Cell Shocker

While me and a friend were on our way to the grocery store yesterday, I made a startling discovery. I was on my cell phone, while driving, having a great conversation. My friend yelled, "Cop, Cop!" I'm like, "okay, I'm not speeding so what's up?" She said, "put the phone down, you will get a ticket while talking on your cell phone and driving." Of course, she explained everything after the phone was plainly out of sight. I guess it is a good law to have enacted in California. I did notice not many drivers were distracted and it seems like traffic flowed a little smoother. Maybe, I'll take that back to Georgia when we move back. Hint, hint....

"Good Hair"

In honor of Chris Rock's movie Good Hair, I, Madison A. R. Carrington, have decided to go NATURAL! For all of you ladies out there who wish to join me in looking society in the face and shouting; "I control what's considered socially acceptable, not you" or simply "You're not the boss of me", then follow these 3 steps and it will lead you back to natural.

1. It all starts with a good wash...

2. Then, a couple of pain staking hours at the salon

3. Finally, don't be afraid to get creative and style to your liking

Give thanks!

Today, I am thankful for being alive and in good health. Madison had me and Kevin scared earlier this week, but she's fine per her pediatrician. I'm thankful that I am an Aunt again. Ava Alana Wedderburn was born in Japan last night and she's a whopping 6 lbs. 14 oz. I am thankful for a wonderful and supportive husband who loves me unconditionally. I'm thankful for my amazing family and friends. I'm thankful for grace and mercy that God gives me Every Day. Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross for me and giving me a second chance! What are you thankful for?

To Move or Not to Move, That is The Question...

So the cat is out of the bag...Tere and I are thinking/praying about moving to California. I know...California! So I figured I would share my Pros and Cons and get your opinion on the move.

Pros
  1. Tere can get into a top rate Medical School (Loma Linda University)
  2. Cali is one of the marketing hubs for the US
  3. I can go Snowboarding and Surfing all year round
  4. Change is good...
  5. Great time to buy real estate in Cali
  6. I hear you have to be fit and sexy to live in Cali

Cons
  1. Most of our family is in Atlanta or on the East Coast
  2. I hear Cali can get really HOT in the summers (you know how I feel about heat)
  3. Cost of living is extremly HIGH!
  4. I hear you have to be fit and sexy to live in Cali

Add your Pros or Cons! We would love to hear what you think.

21st Century Dad

Can I be honest and open with you all? Okay, when I decided to start my own business the idealist in me felt like it would just take off if I did everything in my plan. Well, now I know, that's not the way it works. However, this new leaf has given me an opportunity to spend loads of time with my daughter.

I'm working from home and caring for my daughter during the day, while Tere is healing the world at the Hospital. At first I thought I was in the "Twilight Zone", then a came to realize what a blessing it is. This role reversal thing is not half bad. Actually, its not a reversal at all, its just that we can all chip in now.

My Vices/My Love

Food, oh how I love you. You never disappoint. He he he. When I was pregnant, these delicious options filled my tummy with such joy and delight. Prove me wrong if you dare.....

This brownie earthquake goes great with a hot summer day, watching a movie or talking with friends...... actually, it's great whenever you're hungry.

Cheeto-Puffs are a great anytime snack!

Now these are new and it might just take 1 to get used to it but once you get the hang, you'll be Addicted. I LOVE these! Still gotta hang on to the puffs though...

And the ultimate! Enough said! Yummy, I'm getting hungry so you know what I'm gonna do.....
wanna join?

$5.00 Blessing

The most awesomest thing happened to me today, and stuff like this NEVER happens to me. One of my good friends invited me to lunch at a nearby diner and I agreed. We stepped out the car and lying on the ground was one whole crisp $5 bill. I was so excited!!!!! Free money, Yeah, whoot, whoot! I felt like a millionaire, only $999,994.00 to go. Thank you Jesus!

Summer Fun!

This is Madison's first summer and what would summer be if we didn't go SWIMMING! She is a natural, can you say Olympics 2020!

Surreal Life

Have you ever had a surreal moment? Mine came when I saw this pic. In the moment, it just felt like a good time with my boy Julian and his family. But when I saw this pic that Sarah (greatest photographer in the world) took, it hit me hard.

Let me tell you why this moment, this picture, was so surreal. Julian and I have known each other since birth. We were born in the same hospital--a couple of year apart of course. Here we are almost 30 years later, standing in the same room, holding our daughters who are the same age. This is too SURREAL!!!!!!

Start-up...

As some of you know, I'm an entrepreneur. A few years ago, I started a Marketing and Advertising firm called Carrister. This road has lead me down some really steep hills but the lessons that I am learning are amazing. If you are an entrepreneur
and you don't believe that God is in control, you are fooling yourself.

Last year I embarked upon developing a ground breaking advertising technology targeted at the legal industry. I called it e-Legal Ads. I pulled together some of my very smart friends and picked their brains dry. My buddy Carl, @ K3 Technologies, had to suffer through my indecisive and OCD personality, but at the end we developed a cutting edge legal advertising technology that will change the industry. One of my business mentors, Joel Callins @ The Callins Law Firm, was such a big part of helping me navigate through taking a business concept and turning it into a revenue generating engine. As-a-matter-of-fa
ct he became our first client. (Thanks Bro!)

I'll share a little more in the future about how things are going. Just remember, entrepreneurship is a roller coaster ride with a lot of loops, twists, and drops, but at the end all you remember is the ride was SWEET!!!!!!

Change...

Some of you...okay one of you...alright ALINKA, said that you wanted more info about whats going on with Tere and myself also. Up until now this entire blog has been dedicated solely to Madison and her journey through the early years of life. Well, all of that is about to CHANGE!

Seeing that our domain is "thecarringtonsplusone" we figured that Tere and I should share in Madison's spotlight.

Stay Tuned...

Aw, Aw, Aw...Bless You!

We've been away for a while...I know...we'll try and do better next time. So let me catch you up, hold on we are going to go pretty quick.

I'm not quite sure what it is about Baby Blessings that get people so hyped up. I didn't get it until it was time for me to bless my child. Greatest feeling in the world, second to her birth of course. When they called for friends and family to come up, it was like half of the church came up. We loved the support, much love to First Lithonia SDA family.

Ahead of her time...

I always knew my child was going to be a fast bloomer, as I was one myself.  However, Madison is just moving way to fast.  She is only 2 months, 2 months that's all.  You won't believe what I caught Madison doing the other day.

She is pushing up and holding her head up, all by herself.  But that's nothing...

She just started feeding herself yesterday.  As I drew close--putting the bottle to her lips, she grabbed it with two hands like a big girl and shoved it in her mouth.  Knowing her mother, I should have known that Madison would be an early bloomer in the area "Get your eat on".  Still this was an easy feet for a small percentage of children across the world.  However, what I am about to show you is classified and amazing.  If they find out about her super intelligence they are going to try and run test on her.

Madison can...

NEEDLES OH MY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Madison got her first shots the other day.  When she saw the needle she was unfazed.  It wasn't until the needle broke her skin, that she had her first run in with straight up PAIN.  I know this sound crazy, but, I felt it.  When the Doc stuck her it was as if they stuck me.  It was the weirdest feeling.

Tere had to work so I was left to take Madison into her first bad experience.  I can't help but think that Tere set me up!  She will always remember the day that Daddy introduced her to PAIN.

ROAD TRIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, Madison had her first road trip in MARCH...yeah in MARCH.  Tere was supposed to post this  back in MARCH but here I am in the end of APRIL posting it now (No love lost).  Guess where she went...MIAMI, FL!

I got a chance to show her off to all the people @ Tabernacle SDA in Miami.  It was great.

Even Dr. Uncle B got a chance to hold Madison.  She likes it.

Tere and Rhonda Nelson (soon to be Perry...lol) took a moment for a photo op before the ride back to the ATL.

Madison, basking in Miami shade...just like here Dad, trying to escape the heat.
