Hanging With One of the BFF's

Madison got a chance to hang with one of her BFF's this weekend.  They met about 8 months ago...in the womb.  Sarah and Tere spoke almost everyday during their pregnancy.  While they were chatting Madison and Aria got to know each other.  Although Aria was born a week before Madison, when they met face to face for the first time it was like they never skipped a beat.

They were so over the flash photography.  After the girls gave us "the look" we decided to give them a rest.

Madison's First Doc Visit

So, Madison's first doc visit was Tuesday, March 3rd.  The doc's office is the coolest place EVER!--especially for the father who hasn't been able to quiet that 5 year old boy inside of him.  The doc's office is covered, I mean covered...no seriously COVERED (from front door to emergency exit in the back) in hand and foot prints of all the children that are seen by her practice--cool right?  Doc said "when Madison gets a little older her little hands and feet will be up there too".  Yeah, it sounded a little creepy to me too, at first, then it got cool again.

This was Madison's first trip outside.  She loved it!  We took her to look at some lofts and condos in downtown Decatur. It looks like Madison has fallen in love.

Madison 1 - Parents 1

Madison beat us down the first three nights.  She was up crying like every hour or so. Eat, Pee, Doo-Doo, Sleep and CRY!  These are a few of the WMDs (Weapons of Mass Destruction)  in her arsenal.  She had me begging for SLEEP!!!!!  "I WANT SLEEP!!!!"  Madison, you may have won this battle but we will win the War.

And win we did!  The next four nights was all about Tere, she was in rear form.  I don't know where she got the information, but she put Madison on a feeding schedule and it was over.  Now Madison eats every 2 hrs during the day and sleeps between feedings.  Would you believe that Madison is so tired from being woken up every 2 hrs during the day that she sleeps for 4 full hours at night.  Tere you are the BOMB!!!!!

Girl It Is!

Madison Adassa Riley Carrington (M. A. R. C.)

Madison A. R. Carrington was born @ 12:44pm on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 weighing in at 6lb, 15oz and 19" inches.  With a full head of hair, I mean full.

Tere and I wanted to find a way to commemorate my father who passed in 2003 (Mark A. Carrington 1955 - 2003).  If we had a boy that would have been quite easy we would have just named him after me and my father.  However, with a girl it would be a little tricky.  After a little help from our friends and family we decided on using her initials to spell his name.

During labor, Tere was a trooper.  I was so proud of her--the way she just endured all of that pain to bring our little princess into this world.  I will forever be grateful, impressed, proud, wickedly happy, etc...at what a wonderful job she did.

Legend of the Eggplant

So, Keisha sends me this article about a restaurant in Atlanta that has a dish that is legend to induce labor...yeah, that's what I said when I first read about it.  I'm in marketing so in my mind this was just a great way to get pregnant women and their families in the door.  Despite my skepticism, I thought it could be a really fun night out so I called ahead and reserved a table.  Plus, Tere is 5 days past due and we are just about willing to try anything to get Madison out.  We hit the town heading for Scalini's.  The food was GREAT and the service was wonderful.  Tere ordered the "labor inducing" eggplant parmesan and I ordered some chicken alfredo dish.  So apparently this is a really big thing.  We walked in and there was an entire wall full of babies, 300 + babies were born as a result of this stuff.  Our waitress had us register in a book before she gave us the run down.  Here's how this works...before your order comes out they have you sign your name and contact info in a book.  If your baby is born with-in 48 hrs of the time you entered in the book you get a $25 gift certificate, a Scalini's t-shirt for the baby and your baby's pic on the wall & website.

We finished our meal at about 8:30pm and Tere was in labor by 11:00pm that night...yeah I know, it was AMAZING!  They made me a believer.   So be sure to look for Madison on the Scalini's website.

You can read all about Scalini's legendary eggplant parmesan and see pics of Madison on their "Scalini's Bambino" wall.

Pre-Labor Jitters

Okay!  So our due date has come and gone.  The docs said the baby would arrive on Feb. 19, 2009 and here it is Feb. 23rd and NO BABY!!!!!  The suspense is killing us, she could come any day now.
Tere is under the impression that everything she feels is labor.  With this being our first child, I can't say that I blame her.  I'm on pins and needles because at any moment she could be contracting and breaking water.  I have been dragging Tere through these labor exit drills in efforts to get out of the house and to the hospital in as little time as possible.  Okay, okay I know I sound a little "commie", but a brother likes to be prepared.

Welcome!

Hello Everyone!

Tere and I wanted to find a way to capture the experience of having our first child in a way that will make it easy to share with our whole fa
mily and friends.  We were not quite ready to release our baby's likeness on facebook just yet so after a couple days of thinking it hit us...duh, a blog.  This blog is just a way of keeping all of you, our family and friends, up-to-date on our experience as new parents.  Also, this is a way for us to share pictures with you as well.  I hope you all enjoy.

We welcome your comments, advice, testimonies, prayers and questions.  I will try and keep the blog as up-to-date as possible.  If you notice that things are falling behind, feel free to give me a little nudge.

P.S.  I have to do a little catching up.
